As the warmaster’s fleet proceeds to Terra, Vannaheim is brought under siege. A small imperial contingent has the chance to prevent the warmaster’s fleet from acquiring valuable supplies.
The first engagement will be a 1000 point Zone Mortalis game with the loaylists as the defenders. The battlefield will have a ceiling per the rules on page 114 of white dwarf 477, therefore units will not be allowed to arrive from deep strike unless they have the ability to teleport. Victory points will be totaled from imperial and traitor players. The side with the most points will determine which side (traitors or loyalists) is the defender in the second engagement.
The second engagement will be 3000 points per army playing Onslaught, with Vanguard Strike deployment and he following modifications:
- 1 Onslaught objective is placed in the defender’s deployment zone, but none are placed in the attackers (Thus the defender cannot score points from the onslaught objective).
- 2 Dominion objective markers are placed in the Attacker’s deployment zone, and 3 are placed in no-man's land. The attacker can not score points on the objectives within their deployment zone.
All players will receive a participation trinket. The winning team will receive a special 3d print to commemorate their victory.
We ask that, for this narrative event, you make a best-effort to have painted models. Please at least have models primed or base coated your army color, with some details picked out. Basing is also highly encouraged.
Additionally, all players may submit a single unit (character, vehicle, or squad) to be considered for best painted. The painter of the best painted model will receive $10 store credit.
Please submit whether you prefer loyalists or traitors (and whether you can play either) and a draft army list for each engagement by November 19th. We will ensure there are an equal number of loyalist and traitor forces, and verify army lists.
We ask that you try to keep in mind that this is a narrative event, and that the goal of the game is to have fun. Please do not aim for an overly efficient army list, such as one composed almost entirely of dreadnoughts, high armor vehicles, or models with a 2+ save.
We will be using the Liber Panoptica FAQ, Errata, and Balance Changes for this event, as well as Games Workshops expanded army rules from exemplary battles and legacies of the age of darkness, and the Liber Centura expansion. This is to add in options, keep units roughly balanced, and ensure rules are as clear as possible.
For example, dreadnoughts have an italic line of text in their description stating that a dreadnought with two close combat weapons gets an extra attack. It is unclear whether or not this is a reminder that any model with two close combat weapons gets an additional attack, or an additional attack on top of that one. To avoid confusion, we will be going with the panoptica ruling of it being reminder text.
